A witty model, who knew they existed?

You're about to be stranded on an island and you can bring one person and one thing, what would you bring?
A beautiful male model, and earplugs so I wouldn't have to listen to him.

Sophia Loren, eat your heart out!

Have you met my bff, Jess? Isn't she one stunning bella? Just look at her tumbling curls and who needs extensions when you've got lashes like those?

She now works in the city, right around the corner from me, so I have the luxury of seeing this totes babe almost every day! On Monday night, we hit the shops and Jessa, who had been searching for the perfect coral lippie, picked up this Tom Ford creation. And my gosh, it is pretty damn amazing. So silky smooth and oh boy, does that coral colour pop! Now, if only the imprinted 'TF' could last forever.

Oh, what did I purchase? No, I was a good girl.  Ha, are you kidding? That would require some self-restraint.  I bought these Falke baby blue socks because I am ob to the sessed with coloured socks but more on that later.

Today I'm listening to Emma Louise - Jungle

I don't mind the freezing cold morning walk to the train station if I'm listening to this song.  Like it as much as I do? Download it for free, thanks Triple J.

The 'Yo!' Files: Yo, I'll show you my blue side

Michael Van Der Ham x Topshop wedges
I really should ban myself from looking at the shoes on the Topshop site.  Every time, even I just take a really short wee little browse, I fall in love with a pair.

A couple of weeks ago, I fell in love with the red version of these wedges from the normal Topshop range.  I wanted them so much I began to wonder whether there was a way I could make my feet grow (just a tad) or permanently balloon up so my size 5 footsies could magically fit into size 6 shoes.  Ridiculous? I know, but months ago I tweeted Topshop begging them to make size 5's and they didn't even acknowledge my request - #fail.

For some reason I found myself really desperate just to hold these red wedges.  Last Friday afternoon, I saw that they would be featured in this week's Grazia, I found myself so desperate that I asked a work colleague to "please buy them so I can live vicariously through you?" Her response?  "No, I'm too tall as it is." Booo.  Tomorrow, I'll try tempt Amanda with the midnight and cornflower blue alternatives.

Forever young

I am pretty much a small child.  I am petite or vertically challenged, however you'd like to phrase it.  I wear size 5 shoes.  I clap my hands when I'm excited. I am obsessed with Harry Potter.  Sometime between the hours of three o'clock and four o'clock in the afternoon, I crave chocolate and/ or chips.

Last December, I was given a Country Road $200 gift card. I don't shop at Country Road, the last thing I've ever bought from was one of their Country Road bags way back in '07. I've been glued to their website for a couple of months now hoping something amazing will appear - a winter coat for example but nada. As you have probably gathered, I'm not one who likes to shop for basics, which is what Country Road essentially stocks.

When I rocked up to Country Road today, this Foil Print Knit took my fancy, it's $179. That was until I remembered the awesome Country Road Girls prints we used to stock when I worked in the Kidswear department of Myer.  I couldn't do it less than a year ago but today, I somehow managed to fit the Girls size 12 - either I'm wasting away or Country Road has scaled up their sizes. So I went a bit loopy and bought all of this for a little over $200. And it's real wool, none of this acrylic biz.

I know what you're thinking but so what if I'll look like a child?  Alexa Chung dresses like a child all the time and she's one smoking IT girl/ child. And besides, I'm being my childlike self and doing it for a fraction of the price. Who's winning now?

A nommy weekend

This weekend has been rather marvelous.  Marvelously nommy. Here's a brief rundown of what made it so yum:

The Dip: My friend Ross has been raving on and on about his mate's newly opened diner, The Dip at Goodgod Small Club.  Since he couldn't and wouldn't shut up about the deliciousness of the deep Southern and Mexican noms, I dragged my friend Liz there to see if Ross was just being biased as he sometimes helps out in the kitchen.  Turns out, he wasn't.  The food is actually AMAZING.  Liz and I couldn't stop raving about the Pulled Pork Nachos and Lev's Dawg. We'll be back and definitely be bringing more friends so we can try the whole menu.

Sushi Train:  It's an oldie but a goodie. It's the best place to go when you want quality sushi for a reasonable price.  The variety is so great, I somehow have a three sushi plate line up on my table within five minutes of my arrival.  Fresh ingredients, no measly portions either.

Karla Špetić blouse: While I've been yearning for one of this fab young designer's skirts, it's been quite difficult actually finding one to try on. Like with all amazing clothing, the size 6's have sold out quick fast and I can't seem to find one anywhere to try on.  While they're online, yes I know, I'd much rather be able to choose which section of the digital print skirt I purchase rather than it be a lucky dip.

How I'd love to be able to wear this

Fairground Beaded Dress By Dress Up Topshop

Unless you're a celebrity, socialite, singer or you've just got a lot of balls and are begging for attention, I don't think you can get away with wearing this dress. But wouldn't it be fun to spin around in? Look at that beaded fringing and those sparkly sequins!  I'm not a member of the cast of Gossip Girl nor am I one of the show's characters who have charity events to attend each and every night. As much as I'd like to have this blingtastic dress hanging in my closet, I don't really have a need for something so flash and fancy.  Blake Lively probably does though. Damn that Blake Lively.

The 'Yo!' Files: Yo, let's go frolick!

Issa Cap-sleeve lace dress
Part lacy princess Kate, part sassy little sis Pippa.  It's no wonder this jade floral embroidered number by one of the Duchess's favourite labels has sold out.

I need this notebook or a punching bag

Oh, the cool hunter, you've done it again. With every album you post, there is an image which inspires me, makes me laugh, causes me to gush and coo and even just say 'wow'.

I find the above image absolutely hilarious, especially today.  Why today?  I'm still in my cranky mood from yesterday. My morning train to work was canceled.  Waah wah wah, you say. But the next one wasn't scheduled to arrive for another 31 minutes and waiting in the freezing cold did not agree with my immune system - I walked into the office sniffling. Not the greatest way to start a Monday morning.

So, my morning was crap. So what?  My evening was even crappier. I just really didn't have much luck with trains yesterday.  My train home decided to breakdown leaving me stranded in an industrial area where it's pretty much impossible to get a cab. I stood roadside and attempted to hail down a cab for 20 minutes before giving up and begging my dad to pick me up from the station.  And now after just writing and reliving that crappy Monday, I'm in a crankier mood because obviously I still have that damn cold.

Cityrail, this grumpy post is all your fault. And the fault of all the other people/ things that made me exclaim, "I want to punch (insert name) in the face!" Everyone in the office can vouch for me that I do indeed say it an awful lot, and I did say it a crazy lot today especially - colds just make you cranky.  Maybe I just need the above pictured book.  But would venting it on paper calm me and just cause my frustrations to grow stronger?

Today I'm listening to Foster The People

These guys from Cali aren't just pretty faces, they also sing and play pretty sweet tunes.  I've got my hands on their yet to be released album, Torches, and you betcha I've got it on repeat.  I'm still to suss out which track is my favourite but I'll definitely keep you kids posted.

Until you're lucky enough to get the album yourself, you can stream the album here or just watch their video clip to their hit single, Pumped Up Kicks - because the genetically blessed were born to be perved on.

LF Stores Spring 2011

I don't remember how I came across the LF stores website, it's not a site I had ever visited before.  I watched their S/S 11 video more than a week ago and I'm still watching it now. Currently in Sydney, it is 11.9˚C and apparently it feels like 9.9˚C, it's absolutely freezing and I wish could be either one of those models frolicking in the fields and the deserts.

It's not just the boho chic summer festival wear that I like about the video.  More than anything it's the hair styling.  And off to the hairdresser I go, with pics of the loose waves with the neat braids on New Zealand model Georgia Fowler and the (faux) dipped dyed hair on the Vanessa Paradis lookalike in tow.

Naughty weekend purchases

Pictured above are just a few of my naughty weekend purchases.  In a couple of hours, I somehow managed to wipe out my bank account and drop an entire fortnight's pay. I clearly have no self-restraint, pay day was only the day earlier, but hey, I've been wanting these jeans forever. And the bronze knit?  Well, the sales assistant convinced me that they went rather well with the jeans so I tried it on.  She wasn't lying and it somehow ended up in my shopping bag too.

What isn't pictured?  I had dropped way too much dosh at sass & bide alone and was on my way home via Cue.  Not somewhere I normally shop, too corporate and too structured for me but in the window was a beautiful orange/ coral Dion Lee x Cue jacket on the mannequin. The colour was very similar to this Vanessa Bruno one I had lusted over for months but in Dion's signature style, it's of course a boyfriend blazer.

I was umm-ing and ahhh-ing, the state of my back account really couldn't take another hit but when the lovely sales assistant (I think her name was Lucy? - though I could be completely wrong) told me there was only one other size 6 left in Sydney, I snapped it up quick fast. And now I'll be living on soup for the next two weeks.  The sacrifices of a shopaholic... sigh.
