Proenza Schouler vs Target: Copy cat satchels

Proenza Schouler PS1 bags
Proenza Schouler's PS1 messenger bag costs $1,995 while Target's Mossimo messenger bag costs $34.99.  The PS1 comes in an array of colours with new and delicious hues released every season in both suede and leather varieties, while the Target version is, well, made of PVC.

Proenza Schouler are disappointed that Target had the balls to copy their design, the "attitude" and "design" in particular, especially since they collaborated with the large retail giant a few years ago to produce a 65-piece collection.  But is there really an issue? We don't see Chanel whinging about the millions of chain bag knockoffs produced.

A satchel bag, is a satchel bag and they have existed for how long? Besides, is the girl who saves her pennies to buy a PS1 really going to walk into Target, let alone shop there and opt to buy the cheap pleather alternative?

Another fashion short film: Gorman A/W 11

It's the new thing to do, it's what the internet savvy youth have been begging for.  Following in the footsteps of labels such as YSL, Chanel, Mulberry and Lover, Aussie label, Gorman have released their own fashion short showcasing their A/W 11 collection.

How much do you love? I'm a sucker for pretty things, yes I admit it.  I like florals and prints, polka dots and stripes and this Gorman collection, whaddaya know, has all of the above.  And what about that spotty bike and that little bicycle basket? Can you please be mine?

Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen hit back: We’re still together

On-again, off-again couple, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have denied reports that they have ended their relationship.  In a recent story reported in Us Weekly, a source stated,  “They're done this time. Engagement's over, relationship's over. She's really had it.”

But Rachel’s rep is insisting that the force between the hot young Hollywood couple is still mighty strong, hitting back rumours, stating, “There is not truth to this – Rachel and Hayden are still dating.”

The genetically blessed couple met on the set of the sci-fi film Jumper in 2007 and by December 2008, they were engaged with Rachel flashing a beautiful (and sizeable) rock, but then split in 2010. They reunited in November 2010. You know what they say, the couple who get dressed together, stay together. And judging by Rach’s and Hayden’s mutual love of Burberry (Hayden’s coat, Rach’s bags), I'm thinking they’ll stay together … for now anyway.

Emma Watson for Alberta Ferretti

Emma Watson has certainly been a busy bee since putting her studies at Brown University on hold. Last week, we saw pics of the 20-year old modelling for Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose campaign but this week, the Harry Potter star is on the other side of the lens, hiding behind-the-scenes and playing designer.

Pure Threads, a collaboration with Alberta Ferretti, is a limited edition five-piece capsule collection. Featuring two dresses, a blouse, denim shorts and a maxi skirt - this organic clothing line is so romantic, so beautifully lace-embellished and so Emma.

Available exclusively from albertaferretti.com, part of the proceeds will go towards the People Tree Foundation - the non-profit Fair Trade organisation. Now there's an excuse to shop.

Flat + Platforms = Flatforms

You've seen them on the Spring/ Summer runways at Prada, Derek Lam and Chanel but will you be wearing this latest trend? Flatforms practical and a hell of a lot more comfortable than wearing stilettos. They've been worn for centuries by beautiful geishas but you can pair with wide legged trousers for a '70s look (and noone will know you're vertically challenged) or sophisticated tweed dresses for a modern spin.  Kind to your feet and  kind to your back, it's no wonder fashionistas everywhere are embracing this trend.  So hurry or you be put on the dreaded wait list!

Keira Knightley is a badass Coco Mademoiselle

In the new short film for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance, directed by Joe Wright (of Atonement and Pride & Prejudice fame), we see a new and different Coco Mademoiselle to the one we're used to.

Gone are the tweed jackets and little black dresses, Keira Knightley in this new short, is one badass Mademoiselle. She has envy-worthy cheekbones, a sexily disheveled bob and beautifully plumped lips. She also rides motorbikes, wears boots and camel onesies and breaks hearts. All the girls want to be her and all the boys want to be with her.  Oh so cool, oh so sensuous, oh so fiercely independent.  She's oh so Chanel.

And on that note, I'm off to spritz myself with Coco Mademoiselle.

Yumorama wedges

Wedges served with a dollop of sour cream and sweet chilli sauce - it's the ultimate bar snack.  Now, the ultimate shoes to hit up the bars in?  Look no further, double wedge it with these this Autumn, then wear them with tights when the weather gets cooler.

Ashley Greene moves on with Jared Followill

To be honest, I don't really care for Ashley Greene or anyone in the Twilight franchise.  I don't get the hype surrounding Robert Pattinson, nor do I care about his relationship with co-star, Kirsten Stewart, although I somehow know far too much about these kids than I'd like to admit.

Rachel Bilson and Karl Lagerfeld scream for ice cream

It's the sweetest collaboration I've ever seen! Spotted on location in Paris was King of Luxury, himself, Karl Lagerfeld filming actress, Rachel Bilson in a series of chic videos for luxury ice cream brand, Magnum's U.S launch.

Bossie and Zoe are beautiful idiots

So you already know how much I adore Kate. Here in this video, she and Zo prove to be an unbeatable combo, not just in looks, but in acting skills.  They play the most adorable idiots ever.

My favourite line?  "I got Buzz Lightyear... underwear."

Chanel's soldiers

Presently on Facebook, there are 4,169 people who like this image.  151 people have left comments.  When you see the breathtaking image, you'll understand why.  What is it of? It is of one of my favourite models, Liu Wen, wearing one of my favourite luxury labels, Chanel.

And here it is...

And why not throw in another little bit of Chanel-spiration from the Pre-Fall 10 collection?

Matte is the new black

It was the lovely Heather's 22nd birthday yesterday and all the cool kids congregated at Concord RSL for a game of trivia.  Concordian tradition entails that most (if not every) Tuesday night should be spent at Trivia at the RSL, so that is exactly what happened.  The birthday girl wore her finest to mark the very special occasion, but she didn't buy a new birthday dress as most girlies would do.  Instead, she wore her brand new cape and was sporting some damn fine red matte lippie.

Chris Lilley is an Angry Boy

The genius who brought you We Can Be Heroes and Summer Heights High is back.  Chris Lilley's mockumentary television series, Angry Boys, has long been in the making and now we finally have a sneak peek.  Moving on from Jonah and Jamie, this new series focuses on what it is like to be a male living in the contemporary society.

Can it live up to the hype?  We'll have to wait another fortnight to find out.  Angry Boys will air on Wednesdays at 9:30pm on ABC1.

Style stalking Kate Bossie

Kate Bossie is everywhere this month.  The beautiful blonde is gracing the covers of NYLON and Shop Til You Drop.  But their shoots don't impress me much. It's Kate's personal style which I actually j'adore.

The girl shares my love for headgear.  She won my heart when she rocked this amazing thing at Derby Day way back in '06.

Lover: A dance for one

My perfect Autumn outfit. Because I really do need another pair of Lover high-waisted shorts. Uh, is an explanation actually necessary? Why wouldn't you want that gorgeous dusty purple-gray pair hanging in your wardrobe?

Lover's A/W 11 collection "A Dance For One" is out. Their first drop has already hit the stores.

If only we could turn back time

I'm obsessed with the sixties, I wish I lived them.  The London scene, in particular.  I love the fashion and probably would have been a Mod if I had lived during the time. Right now, I wish I could crop my hair like Twiggy and Grace Coddington back in the day and wear super short minis like Jean Shrimpton. Unfortunately, I don't have the cheek bones or the legs to do so.

Sigh, now if only we could turn back time.  Hey, but we kind of can through fashion trends.  Last year, we saw a '90s revival. Fashion was all about the Doc Martens, the crop tops, plaid shirts - My So-Called Life style.  This year, it's all about the '60s.  The shift dress is back, strong defined lashes and brows, pixie cuts and Mod style prints.

Want proof?

Conan Brien: Only Angry Birds can destroy Kim Kardashian's song

I love Angry Birds. Yes, I do.  It's coming to Facebook and I'm super excited about it. What gets me more excited?  The combo of life-sized Angry Birds action games and celeb pop culture references.

Conan Brien thinks Kim Kardashian's song, Turn Me On, is so awful that he built this Angry Birds game just to destroy it.  And I love him for it, but who wouldn't?

I love Wang but Wang doesn't love me

Alexander Wang Mini Rocco in Oasis
Each and every season, I find myself lusting after the newest hue to join the Rocco and Diego clans.  This season, I'm in love with the Rocco in Oasis. When you're in love with Wang, you can't expect it to wait around forever. You don't have the time to consider whether you can actually afford it or think of when you can buy it as a reward to yourself.  If you wait too long, someone else is going to snatch up right before your very eyes.  I'm speaking from experience because it has happened to me. Twice.  Once again, that dreaded message popped up on my screen.

Hey Heids & Sezza, have I seen this sass & bide collection before?

sass & bide Perpetual Truth Dress
Don't get me wrong. I love sass & bide.  I've been dressing in it since I was fourteen. My wardrobe is full of sass & bide and S&B VIE, in fact sometimes I embarassing find myself dressed head to toe in the labels.  But there's something not quite right about their papa sucre A/W 11 collection. I feel like I might have seen some of the designs before? Especially the above one.  All that heavy pleating on a itsy bitsy dress? It all seems strangely familiar and kind of reminds me of another Australian designer's collection.

Can you guess which designer I'm thinking of?

If my ladies were nail polish...

I'm obsessed with nail polish.  There, I said it.  Happy now?  I, apparently, am renown at work and within my circle of friends for my colourful nail polish collection.  A colleague once said to me,
"I can just picture you every weekend, just sitting in front of the TV painting your nails.  Is that all you do?"
FYI, it's not all I do.  But I do to spend some of my Sunday nights doing exactly that.

Topshop has the most amazing make up collections out at the moment.  It's a pity I'm rubbish at applying it because I love the range of spring brights and shimmery metallics. But it's always the nail polishes that catch my eye. I saw the below silver and blue combo and immediately though of Shan. And as I scrolled further and further down the page, the eye popping shades continued to remind me some other friends.

So here you have it, just a few of my favourite ladies if they were nail polish.
Meet Shan

Kim Kardashian talents just keep expanding

Much like her rear.  Too harsh?  Her new single, Jam (Turn It Up), is exactly that.  Harsh on the ears.  But since all sales are being donated to charity, I'm hoping that Kim does what Kim does best - sell.  (I'm obviously not counting the kanned Kardashian Kard here.)

T.L ♥s Lego

I'm not sure if it is physically possible to actually grow out of Lego.  For me, it's definitely not.  I'll ♥ Lego for the rest of my life.  Might even get this post's title tattooed on my back.  Tramp stamp style but I'll probably get a Lego piece done rather than the word itself.

Holy Mulberry! Look what I discovered on the train today

It was yesterday morning when I discovered the Mulberry iPhone/ iPad app. And it was this morning when I was sitting on the train that I decided what's the harm in filling my shopping bag with my heart's desires? Now really, what is the harm? Nada, there's isn't any. But still I'd better put my iPhone back into my Alexa before I "accidently" click the 'checkout' option.
