Things which made me smile

Fridays are supposed to be relaxed. It's almost the weekend and it's supposed to be cruisy. Lots of kids I know wrap up work at 4pm and have drinks in the office. Except if you work at a weekly magazine.  It's crazy manic, you have to make sure everything has gone to print by the 4pm deadline and then you have to stay back to make sure dyelines are A-OK so the mag can go on-sale on Monday.

Friday was a shocker for me but some little acts of kindness from some lovely friends brightened up my Friday night and the rest of my weekend.

Heath didn't complain once about me being half an hour late to meet her on Friday night. I left her waiting downstairs in the lobby, watching a wall of television screens all on mute while I was caught up at work. Ever so kind and understanding, she let me choose where we ate eat dinner.  Over pizza (the woodfire kind, of course) she listened patiently while I recounted my day for the 5th time.  I love you, Heather!

The amazingly sweet Shan offered to come shopping with me on Sunday after hearing about my Friday and then hearing me whine about my fail whale Saturday (I couldn't  find a pretty dress to buy). I didn't make her give up her Sunday, but probably would have if she had endless supply of money and a private jet so we could fly to Topshop, Zara and the rest of our favourite stores. It's seriously crazy how close the members of the Coordinators Club are. Despite the fact we all work in different departments, we still manage to see each other for a catch up almost everyday. Big hug to the Coordinators Club and espec. Shan for being so cool. And teaching me how to speak in Lolcats.

What else made me smile this weekend?
  • Scoring free tix to a Washington gig on Friday night.
  • Belle temporary bid the Coordinators adieu on Monday to go to Thailand with Channel V and be their next blog jockey.  When I woke up this morning I saw that the Coordinators made her 2nd Channel V blog. YAY!
  • Eating Himalayan chicken and papadums at Paddington Markets with Heather on Saturday.
  • Hearing two of my friends landed their dream jobs during the week! YAY!  Congrats to Bridgey and Emma!! They both had interned their arses off and have now been offered full-time positions.
